PARENT UPDATE-2 (08/04/2020): REMOTE LEARNING COMMENCES IN TERM 2 ON WED APRIL 15

Dear Hume Central Families,

I hope you have been able to enjoy some time together as a family over the break and that you are all safe and healthy.

As outlined at the end of term one, staff at the College have been working hard to prepare for the transition to remote learning next term. The School has been monitoring advice offered by both the State and Federal Governments over the break. At all times, the health and safety of our school community is our highest priority.

Based on government advice, the school will commence the Remote Learning Program for all students in Term Two on Wednesday April 15. Tuesday April 14 is a Pupil Free Day.

This means that for Term Two, all students will be learning from home, with the exception of vulnerable children, and children who, on certain days, are not able to be supervised at home because parents and caregivers are in essential services and where no other arrangements can be made. The offer of on-site supervision is available for children of parents who cannot work from home. However, all those who can learn from home must learn from home. We ask you to please only utilise this service if it is essential. Students, whether they are on site, or at home, will be engaged in identical learning programmes.

Families who need to send students to school next week are asked to contact reception on their relevant campus on Tuesday April 14 between 8.30am and 2.00pm. This contact will enable us to plan and make necessary staffing arrangements.

I have once again attached The Hume Central Remote Learning Guidelines. If you have any questions about this information please contact the College next week.

This is a difficult period for all members of our community. Hopefully we can work together to provide stability for our students, and to emphasise the need to be flexible and adaptable when confronted with challenges.
I thank you for your support as we continue to work together.
Yours sincerely

Jeff Mulcahy
