Starting out – building the foundations for success in the senior years Beginning secondary school can be both exciting and daunting for many children. To help children make the transition from primary school, each Year 7 student is assigned a Mentor teacher. This teacher can provide support, guidance and a friendly ear on any issues a student may be having.
In these junior years, the curriculum builds on a student’s knowledge, understanding and experience from primary school and starts to prepare them for the senior years of school.
Students undertake focused learning to develop subject-specific knowledge, skills and expertise in the areas of English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, the Arts, Design and Technology and Physical Education.
An important aspect of these junior years is helping students to learn to work in teams, meet deadlines and develop good study habits for later years.
