Child Safety Standards at Hume Central Secondary College
Hume Central Secondary College is a Child Safe School. We are committed to upholding the Child Safe Standards and fostering a strong culture of child safety across all aspects of our school community. We actively implement strategies to prevent harm in all forms—physical, sexual, emotional, neglect, racial, cultural, or religious—to ensure the wellbeing of every student.
The safety and wellbeing of children and young people at our college is our highest priority. Families trust our staff, volunteers, and external providers to create a learning environment that is safe, respectful and supportive—where students feel secure and can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Our child safety and wellbeing policies detail the range of measures and practices in place to protect and support students. These include promoting inclusive practices, ensuring student voice, engaging with families, and responding to concerns in a timely and appropriate way.
In meeting the Child Safe Standards, we are particularly mindful of the needs of students who may be more vulnerable due to their age, backgrounds, abilities, family circumstances, or cultural and linguistic diversity. We also uphold the importance of cultural safety for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
Child safety is everyone’s responsibility. Every member of our school community plays a vital role. If you have any concerns about a student’s safety or wellbeing, it is essential that you take action.
