High Ability Program

We are excited to announce an update on our High Ability Program (HAP)

Both of our teams that participated in the Illuminate Challenge received awards at the recent Award Ceremony.

Students were tasked with collaborating with the Hume Tech School, an initiative by the government aimed at offering practical STEM education linked to future careers like renewable energy, robotics, and advanced manufacturing. The launch of the Hume Tech School is scheduled for 2026. The students were required to propose an idea to increase the involvement of women and girls in STEM at the Hume Tech School. They had to develop a business case, marketing materials, and a financial plan, then present their ideas to the judges and the community.

Resilience Realm was awarded joint first place for Best Marketing Strategy by the judging panel, recognizing the team’s strengths. The students’ concept focused on creating a website with interactive resources and mentors to engage women and girls in STEM. Despite facing self-doubt before their presentation, the team received motivation and support to set up an impressive information booth.

Team Hands on Learning won the Student Choice Award for Best Idea, voted on by the participating teams, with Monica playing a pivotal role in leading the team to success. Their innovative idea aimed to empower teachers to use hands-on learning activities to inspire female students in STEM, with the motto “Hands On, Minds On” resonating well with the audience.
The collaboration, self-belief, and confidence displayed by the students were truly inspiring, reflecting the quote “Believe I can, so maybe I will.” A special thanks to our HAP leader, Rachel Wilson, for creating these valuable opportunities for our high-ability students.
