Last week Year 7s at our Junior campuses engaged in a racism workshop with the team from One Love. Mr Jamal Sheikh, Director and Founder of One Love shared his personal experience of a near death encounter with racism when he was the same age as our students. A lot of questions were asked of Jamal and how he navigated the attack and later moved on to complete his studies and tells his story whilst spreading the message of accepting people for who they are.
During the workshop the classes were divided into small groups where they talked about personal experiences of racism and how to address racist and who to talk to when in that situation.
Jamal and his team at One Love couldn’t stop complimenting our Year 7 students and how cooperative, intelligent and engaged they were throughout the workshop.
We thank the One Love team for providing such an incredible workshop to our students.
