Refugee Week

At the end of Term 2, the College celebrated Refugee Week- a week held every year to celebrate the contributions and resilience of refugees and asylum seekers. Our College recognizes our school community has a number of students and families of a refugee background.

This year’s theme was,  ‘Finding Freedom: Diversity in Community’, to focus on the vital role community such as school, plays in our lives regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, language, disability, sexuality and age.  This theme promotes harmony amongst our school community by uniting all individuals that regardless of difference, we are all human.

In keeping with this theme each campus held a successful lunch time celebration of music and cultural food with money raised donated to Foundation House, Refugee Council of Australia and Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

The key message for our students and school community is regardless of differences, we are all human which means we need to care and support each other.
