Year 10 Surf Camp
In term 1, 14 students from the Year 10 Outdoor and Environmental Education classes went on their first experiential learning experience and camp to Torquay and Queenscliff.
The focus of the camp was to gain an understanding of camping in the outdoors and what to do, from putting up your tents, to cooking on portable stoves, doing adventure activities and learning about the environments they are in.
On day one they participated in a Surf Lesson ran by Go Ride a Wave in Torquay with instructor Rose, who with her vast experience gave the students every opportunity to be successful with their surfing experience. Before settling into camp and heading be bed, the group went on a evening walk heading to the cliff tops between Torquay and Jan Jan, looking over the vastness of Bass Strait, all the student enjoyed the relaxing feel of watch the sun drop below the horizon and see the day turn to night.
On day too, they partook in an educational session to the Marine Discovery Centre in Queenscliff they looked at and gained understanding of the unique coastal and marine environments and how they have formed.
Overall students had a very good experience learning and exploring the coastal environments of Torquay and Queenscliff.
