Year 11 Environmental Science Excursion

On Tuesday 9th September the year 11 Environmental Science class visited the Western Treatment Plant in Werribee, which is the largest sewage treatment plant in Melbourne. Students discovered how Melbourne’s waste water is treated to produce recycled water that can be used for irrigation and agriculture. After braving some interesting smells, students explored the extensive wetlands where the recycled water is used to maintain a conservation reserve that protects many local threatened species.
