Year 7 Basketball

The Year 7 boys’ and girls’ basketball teams competed in their round‑robin event at Broadmeadows Basketball Stadium on Friday 21 August. Both teams were coached by Broadmeadows Broncos representative players, Ricardo and Katerina, who supported the students through training sessions in the weeks leading up to the event.

The girls’ team fell just short on the day but showed improvement in every game, coming close to defeating Ngayuk College. Their hustle and defensive pressure were outstanding throughout the competition. The boys’ team opened strongly with a win against Roxburgh Park, led by Mason Tito. However, the size and skill of Gladstone Park and Greenvale proved too much in the later rounds. Despite this, the boys demonstrated determination, strong rebounding and teamwork across all games.

Both teams enjoyed the day, with several students experiencing competition rules for the first time. They left feeling exhausted but motivated, promising to return bigger and better next year as basketball continues to grow in popularity across our campuses.
