Year 9 Active Adventure Camp

The Year 9 Active Adventure Overnight Camp in Torquay provided students with an engaging and challenging outdoor education experience designed to enhance personal growth, resilience, and teamwork through experiential learning. Across the camp, students participated in surfing, mountain bike riding, and a guided night walk, each offering unique opportunities to build confidence, develop physical skills, and strengthen decision-making in unfamiliar environments. Surfing encouraged perseverance, water safety, and adaptability, while mountain bike riding promoted endurance, coordination, and problem-solving through navigating varied terrain. The night walk further extended students’ comfort zones by fostering communication, environmental awareness, and confidence in low-light outdoor settings.

Through these activities, students developed essential leadership, collaboration, and self-management skills while gaining a deeper appreciation for outdoor recreation and risk management. The overnight camp environment encouraged independence, responsibility, and stronger peer connections as students worked together to overcome challenges and support one another.Â
