Young Adas Short Story Competition
Hume Central SC is home to many creative young people who enjoy reading and writing stories. In June, two of our VCE students (Muskan Pant and Sowmya Ghimire) were shortlisted in the Young Adas Short Story Competition as part of the Williamstown Literary Festival and their stories were published in the prestigious Ada Cambridge Anthology. The competition is now in its tenth year and is open to students aged 14–18 living or studying in the Western suburbs. The judges “admired the ambitious scope of the narrative and its heartfelt nature” of Muskan’s story. The judges report described Sowmya’s piece as “a bold and assertive piece” of “powerful writing”. Sowmya was awarded runner up. Congratulations to both students and keep on reading and writing stories!
