Student Excellence Program

The Student Excellence Program is delivering a range of initiatives including The Victorian High Ability Program (VHAP) to support government schools to provide a great learning environment and build teacher capability to support and extend their high-ability students.

Hume Central  supports students in their commitment to the pursuit of excellence and the achievement of their potential in, intellectual, physical, creative, cultural and advance social capabilities.

This is reflected in the college values of Diversity, Achievement and Success. The VHAP program is designed for students who have demonstrated ability in English or Mathematics through their NAPLAN results and performance in these subjects at school. The Victorian High-Ability Program is a 10-week extension course where students will meet with like-minded peers at neighbouring Victorian government schools through weekly virtual lessons.

Congratulations to our Blair Street and Dimboola road students who been selected to take part in the Victorian High-Ability Program in term 2 2023. It is great recognition of our students achieving excellent results and being recognised by the Department of Education.

The weekly virtual lessons occur during the school day and taught by expert Virtual School Victoria educators.
