Akitu New Year Celebrations
Akitu (Assyrian, Chaldean & Syriac) New Year Celebrations occurred on the first day of Nesan (April), the spring month, we commemorate 6774, a significant national festival with a rich historical background.
- During this occasion, speeches were delivered by Mr. Mulcahy, the College Principal, Niam Kurt, the Hume City Council Mayor, and Councilor Joseph Haweil.
- It was celebrated that Hume Central College is the first Victorian School to recognize this event.
- Students from all across the College were well-prepared, dressed in traditional attire, presenting dances, food, and attracting a large number of attending parents.
The College was proud to lead the way in promoting diversity and inclusion within our Assyrian, Chaldean, and Syriac communities.
